YRL the FURY'S TOP 10 CDs of 2006:
#10
Anti-Anti
hands down this was my favorite indie rock release of the year. blowing bands like the strokes out of the water, snowden's catchy hooks and infectious melodies stay in my head for days after listening to them. the album only has 3 not-outstanding songs for heavens sakes. who could ask for anything more out of an indie rock outfit?
#9
Beyond an Infinite
when zero 7 didn't put out an expected superb release this year the beauty room picked up their slack and released their own. hearing about these guys fairly recently i've gotta admit they really surprised me. combining pop, electronics, and sunny soul this release might even contest with Simple Things.
#8
Okay
i had mixed feelings about folky anti-pop something or other artist vollmar the first time i heard him. at first very catchy and simple many of his songs have unexpected and drastic turns halfway through. eventually i decided no other band could really give me the same type of wonderful listening experience.
#7
We are the Pipettes
bringing back oldies 60's pop and combining it with modern indie rock/pop, the pipettes never fail to bring a smile to my face. those doo-doo-bee-bop-boos have never sounded so polished and modern. this is just a great idea carried out in a great way.
#6
Dreamt for Light Years in the Belly of a Mountain
every sparklehorse release adds something special to the world of music. this release is no exception. it takes you on a gentle ride of wonder with very ruff sounds, making you feel something quite unique. always somewhat underappreciated, sparklehorse really deserves to be on more top ten lists this year.
#5
Patience
i've never heard anything like this. for me the name is completely ironic, because as far as i know there is no other electronic musician remotely similar to him. every track molds into the next and this is one hell of a trip - check it out for yourself.
#4
Ass
yes it's a terrible name for a band, not only for what it makes you think but it's also very hard to search for on the internet without getting, well, pictures of asses. but ass's album is, believe it or not, one of the most beautifully pleasant things i've ever listened to. neu/alt/psych/etc folk at its best.
#3
The Gentlemen Losers
you can recognize this band's songs a mile away. throughout this album they use powerful slow-mo beats, as far as i know the only band to use them frequently, and magically weave beautiful experimental music around it. not sure why more people haven't heard of these guys, but their music is definitely worth hearing.
#2
Brightblack Morning Light
incredibly lush, chill, slow folk-soul just amazes me anytime i hear it. i seem to be the only one who likes this stuff on the web, but everytime i play it for my friends they always ask me who it is. it's brightblack morning light folks and if you're looking to slow your life down a little, start by listening to this record. read full review

Aktionskammarn
aktionskammarn is yet another one of those incredible scandinavian gems gone completely and utterly unnoticed by bloggers and reviewing sites alike. this swedish record, which even features the rising star el parro del mar, is fresh, fun, contemplative and experimental all at the same time. if a more experimental, versatile and poppy stereolab or broadcast sounds intruiging definitely give these swedes a chance.
